Martin Luther King Family Day of Service
Monday, January 21, 2013 8:30 AM - Noon Good Shepard Lutheran Church Street and Churchville Rds Southampton, PA 18966 This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to encourage their children in community service. The projects are meaningful, but not too difficult for people of all ages to make their contribution and experience the joy of giving. Projects include reading with children, preparing meals for shut-ins, visiting the elderly in nursing homes, assisting an elderly apartment dweller in a small in home project, preparing Valentine crafts for the sick, and assisting at a food pantry. We encourage all participants to bring a few non-perishable items for the food pantry. Our program begins with a brief gathering to learn about Martin Luther King, Jr. and sing inspirational songs, later breaking into small discussion groups to share personal applications. Refreshments are enjoyed during the discussion time. Then participants proceed to the location of their specific volunteer assignment for about one hour. Please contact the church office if you plan to attend. Back to Home Page |
